SWAIN TRANSPORT GROUP MAKES STRATEGIC ACQUISITIONS

The Swain Group, one of the UK’s largest general haulage and specialist transport companies, has acquired Proctors Transport (Langer) Ltd and W.Coy & Son Ltd.   Both companies are based in Nottingham and are involved in building sector distribution and agricultural machinery transport.

These acquisitions will enhance and strengthen Swain’s range of services in the construction and specialist movement sectors.  The Kent-based firm has recently won a number of contracts in the building material distribution sector so this move is particularly timely.  It brings the company’s total number of depots to 13 across the country.

Matthew Deer, Swain’s Group managing director, said: “To help keep pace with our rapid growth we see these acquisitions as natural steps towards increased operational coverage and help our team develop new services.  Both companies are an excellent fit for our service portfolio and we very much look forward to them becoming part of the wider Swain Group.”

Group sales director at Swain Group, David Emslie added: “This is very exciting news.  Sales development is about matching our services to our customer expectations.  I am in the fortunate position that regardless of the service a customer seeks there will be a Swain division which has the resources and equipment to fulfill it.  We in the privileged position of being a genuine one stop shop for any transport, haulage or logistical challenge.  The inclusion of Proctors and W.Coys to the divisional portfolio strengthens our national and international presence.”

With the addition of these two new business units Swain now has an impressive array of nine specialist sectors to cope with a variety of customer needs.  This forms part of a broader strategy to grow operational capacity in areas where larger customers need a local fleet.
